IPCA creates and restores urban green cover, turning unused or stressed land into living ecosystems that cool cities, clean the air and support biodiversity. We work with corporate partners, institutions and communities to plan, plant and sustain green spaces in places where conventional afforestation would have found no room.
Conceptualization:
Rapid urbanization has put sustained pressure on green cover, leaving cities hotter, more polluted and more vulnerable to floods and landslides. IPCA’s green space work responds to this by making the most of whatever land is available, from narrow strips along flyovers and highways to large institutional campuses. Every plantation is treated as long-term ecological infrastructure rather than a one-time drive.
Uniqueness:
Our approach for green space work stands out for its ability to create forests where conventional afforestation finds no room, from narrow strips along flyovers and highways to large institutional campuses. Our Miyawaki forests use native plants grown in layers and only organic, chemical-free methods, while campus plantations use native, medicinal and pollution-tolerant species chosen to suit the local climate. Our green work is also linked with our recycling work: kitchen and garden waste is composted on site to enrich the soil, and recycled plastic is turned into planters, tree guards and benches. By involving students, employees and volunteers, we ensure that people care for the green space they helped create.
Our Green Initiatives
Miyawaki urban forests: We create small urban forests on difficult sites such as flyovers and highway greenbelts. Native plants are grown close together in layers, the way a natural forest grows, using only organic, chemical-free methods. This gives green cover in very little space and helps cool the area and clean the air.
Campus and institutional plantations: We plant native, medicinal and pollution-tolerant trees and plants in universities and institutions, chosen to suit the local climate. Over time, they form a lasting green belt that improves air quality, keeps the campus cooler and makes it a healthier place for students and staff.
CSR-led green initiatives: We support companies in planning and carrying out plantation drives, from site selection to planting. Students, employees and volunteers take part, so that people care for the green space they helped create.
Waste-to-resource support: Kitchen and garden waste is composted on site and used to enrich the soil. Recycled plastic is turned into planters, tree guards and benches, linking our green work with our recycling work.
